A New Year Reflection on Growth, Grace, and Spirit

Kristin Kodenski's New Year Reflection on Growth, Grace, and Spirit

New Year’s Eve is coming, and as the year winds down, I find myself reflecting on how much everything evolves over time — our work, our faith, our priorities, and even the way we give.

On December 31, 2022, I recorded a short video while walking through Winterfest of Lights in Ocean City, MD. It was raining, the crowds were gone, and the night felt unusually quiet. What could have been disappointing turned into a moment of reflection. Standing there on New Year’s Eve,

In hindsight, it became more than just a resolution. What started as a small step into streaming and self-promotion unfolded into something far greater than I ever imagined.

That quiet, rainy walk became the beginning of something more. What started as a simple moment of reflection evolved into Midnight Connections, where I began highlighting positive voices and meaningful conversations. And over time, that same spirit continued to grow — eventually becoming what I now call Sunday Spirit Socials.

2022 was all about self-care. I do an amazing job promoting my clients — but I realized I wasn’t doing the same for myself.

So in 2023, my focus shifted to self-promotion — sharing my work, my voice, and my creativity more openly. In 2024, I focused on leveling up, which honestly took more time and patience than I expected. Growth isn’t instant. Sometimes it takes years to see the fruit.

And now, as I look ahead to 2026, my heart is clear:

This next chapter is about spreading the spirit.

From Holidays & Motivation to Something Deeper

Over the years, I’ve given gifts that reflected where I was at the time.

One year, it was a calendar featuring 240+ holidays. Another year, it was a Midnight Motivation deck of cards filled with quotes. Last December, I shared something more vulnerable on social media:

“This is a hard December for me, and I’m learning a tough lesson — that gifts do not always have to be material things.”

Around that same time, I began attending Abundant Life Church in Georgetown, Delaware more regularly. I found myself inspired — not just creatively, but spiritually. Without planning it, I started posting what I called Spirit posts. Then it clicked: Sunday Spirit Socials. That name felt right.

So if you didn’t receive a card or a small gift from me this year, I hope you’ll receive something better — encouragement, reminders, and moments of reflection sprinkled throughout the year.

Sunday Spirit Socials - My Gift This Year

This year, my gift is Sunday Spirit Socials.

There are 104 posts — and I still can’t believe that number. I worried I wouldn’t even make it to 52. I created all of them while sitting in church, quietly inspired, creating them on the fly on my phone in the back row.

Some captions come from scripture. Others come from worship music. Many are simply words meant to uplift.

They’re designed for everyone — whether you believe in God, a higher power, nature, or are still searching. We are all in different places on this journey called life.

You can receive all 104 Sunday Spirit Socials FREE Use promo code SpiritGift here:👉 from my Midnight Social page when you choose Sunday Spirit Social Post Bundle.

Or, if you follow me on any of my Midnight Design social platforms, you’ll see them sprinkled throughout the year.

I created them for you — but I also created them for me. I’m stubborn sometimes, and I know I’ll need these reminders too.

A Long Journey Rooted in Positivity

Midnight Motivation may sound new, but this mission isn’t.

Over 15 years ago, I named my blog Positive Pulse. Then came Midnight Connections on YouTube, where I highlighted positive people doing meaningful work.

I am far from a millionaire — but I have spent years promoting others, uplifting voices, and choosing positivity. It brings me great joy to continue that mission now in a deeper, more intentional way.

I’ve also been deeply influenced by work I recently helped revamp for Self-Evident Ministries and the Institute on the Constitution — specifically the Heal Our Land campaign. You can sign up for a free monthly prayer email here:👉 https://www.theamericanview.com/heal-our-land

All of this has reinforced something I feel deeply: Design can be a gift. Words can be a gift. Spirit can be a gift.

Gratitude That Grounds Me

I am so grateful — for my clients, friends, and family. For my son, who is succeeding at DSU, and for being able to provide for him in so many ways. For the blessings that continue to show up, even when the road feels uncertain.

Yes, there is some promotion in this message — because my work and my heart are intertwined. 2023 was about self-promotion. 2024 was about leveling up. 2026 is about spreading the spirit.

If that feels extreme to some — if you think I’ve become a “holy roller” — that’s okay. I’ve been exposed to faith my whole life, from baptism and Sunday school to a Catholic high school I once resented. I used to say I was “spiritual, but not religious.”

Look at me now.

This shift didn’t come from force. It came from listening — deeply — and recognizing the blessings washing over me.

In a world filled with struggle, negativity, and division, I see no harm in promoting kindness, positivity, faith, and something good.

Words That Anchor Kristin Kodenski

Words That Anchor Me

So here I stand, high in surrender

I need You now

Hold my heart, now and forever

My soul cries out

Once I was broken

But you loved my whole heart through

Sin has no hold on me

"Cause your grace holds me now'

ENJOY!

MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU

IN THE NEW YEAR!
